Core Courses

The College of Engineering has 17 undergraduate degree programs. All 17 programs require a common core of courses. In most cases, your first-year course selections will consist of courses from the common core. With the successful completion of these courses, students are prepared to enter a degree program offered by the College of Engineering.

Core Courses
The College of Engineering requires that each student complete the Core Requirements, regardless of their major. The Core Requirements are the foundation upon which your major courses are built. More details can be found below, and in the CoE Bulletin.

Introduction to Engineering
Engineering 100

4 credit hours

Introduction to Computers
Engineering 101, or 151 (accelerated section)

4 credit hours

115, 116, 215, and 216 or Honors Math equivalent courses*

*Math 214 required for some majors

130/125/126 or 210/211

*Chem 210/211 is required for ChemE and EnvE, plus pre-health students

5 credit hours

140/141 and 240/241 or Honors Physics equivalent courses
