What do you like about advising?
I love sharing in students’ journeys as they navigate the challenges and joys of their first year on campus. Watching their interests grow and change, and supporting them along the way, is truly rewarding.
What do you like about working with engineering students?
Engineering students are driven and excited about their work. I enjoy hearing about their diverse interests and what kinds of projects they’re working on.
What was your major in college, and why?
I majored in Art Education because I loved supporting students’ exploration and growth. Meaningful mentorship experiences with faculty and staff spurred my interest in working in higher education. I love that I still get to support students’ growth and foster a sense of belonging on the U-M campus.
What is your best piece of advice for first year students?
Prioritize making time to explore your interests and passions outside of academics. You’ll meet new friends and likely have a greater sense of balance which is important!
What is the best kept secret at the University of Michigan?
Ben’s pretzels are a game day staple and the best pretzel you’ll ever eat.
What do you spend time on outside of your work?
I love taking long (sometimes muddy) walks with my dog, Duncan, who is always teaching me to slow down, seek joy, and make new friends. On Saturdays in the fall, I’m likely at the Big House with my family.
