What do you like about advising?
I really enjoy being able to inspire students to take advantage of all the amazing resources that UM has to offer. My other passion is technology and how we can utilize that to improve our advising services.
What do you like about working with engineering students?
I know that our Engineering students will do the most incredible things, and having a hand in that is a great feeling. Being able to encourage such a diverse and energized group of students makes my job really enjoyable.
What was your major in college, and why?
My major was Elementary Education, and I was interested in being a teacher. Through my first position at the university, I found college students to be so intriguing! I'm so happy that my path has now led me to working with undergraduate students on an individual basis - kind of like teaching, but in a smaller setting!
What is your best piece of advice for first year students?
Forgive yourself if you don't perform as well as you did in high school, if you find it difficult or struggle. Let us know when you need something (either academic or non-academic related)!
What is the best kept secret in the College of Engineering?
MDP! I love all of the hands-on experience that you can add to your plethora of knowledge. You could even get course credit for participating on a team!
What do you spend time on outside of your work?
I enjoy spending time with my family, playing soccer, reading, Michigan football, exploring national parks, and knitting. My favorite place is the beach!
