What do you like about advising?
I really enjoy talking to students. In an average day, I may be seeing up to 10 students for individual appointments but each conversation is different and unique. It's great to help students during the beginning stages of their time at Michigan and feeling like I am making a difference!

What do you like about working with engineering students?
Engineering students are SO BRIGHT! They are doing so many amazing things inside and outside of the classroom. I am often in awe of the project teams, research, and other opportunities that my students are engaging in and I learn so much about engineering and its possibilities from conversations with my students. They always keep me on my toes too!

What was your major in college, and why?
My major was Psychology. I took AP Psych in high school and it was the first class that I really, really loved. I knew I wanted to work with people in my future career so I thought it would be a good major to learn more about human behavior, development, the mind, etc. Psychology is also broad and would allow me to potentially do many different things which was appealing to 19 year old me who was trying to declare a major and unsure what she wanted to do for a career.

What is your best piece of advice for first year students?
Get involved! Find your people. Make friends and become engaged in something, even just one thing, besides school. You are here to get a good education but college is about so much more than that degree you will receive at the end. Take advantage of opportunities, try something new, & get to know your faculty!

What is the best kept secret in the College of Engineering?
1st Gen Engin by far! This is a new program that launched in Fall 2018 for students in Engineering that are the first in their families to complete a bachelor's degree. Our goal is to help students find community and connect them to resources. I am a first gen too so please connect with me to learn more!

What do you spend time on outside of your work?
This past year I have become an avid runner so you may find me on campus running through the Arb! I also love reading and am always checking new books out of the library. I enjoy spending time with my friends and family and my new puppy, too!
