What do you like about advising?
I enjoy meeting with students to assist them with the transition into the College of Engineering as well as helping them formulate what they want their Michigan experience to look like. Each student is unique and it's inspiring to meet with them individually!
What do you like about working with engineering students?
Our students are truly remarkable. I love hearing about what they're creating in their classes and how they're planning to use their engineering degree to make an impact out in the real world.
What was your major in college, and why?
My undergraduate majors were Psychology and Family Studies. They were topics that I naturally gravitated to and always wanted to continuing learning more about. I continued my studies at the Master's level in Counseling so that I could learn how to apply what I studying in the classroom in my interactions with students.
What is your best piece of advice for first year students?
Step outside of your comfort zone! Now's the time to take an elective in a subject you've always been curious about, join a club that forces you to think outside the box, get to know others who have a completely different backgrounds than you. This is where you will grow and learn as an individual.
What is the best kept secret in the College of Engineering?
Engineering Learning Center! This is a phenomenal academic resource for engineering students that's under utilized. They offer tutoring, practice exams, supplemental study strategies, etc. Best of all- all services are FREE!
What do you spend time on outside of your work?
I enjoy spending time with my friends and family. My husband and I have 2 young daughters that keep us quite busy! I also love traveling and going up north in the summer as often as I can.
