CoE Peer Mentor Program

– Do you have questions about life at UM and what it’s like to be an Engineering student?
– Would you like to connect with other Michigan Engineers before you get to campus?
– Are you looking to join an inviting community that can support your college transition?
If you answered “yes” to any of the above questions, then the CoE Peer Mentor Program (PMP) would be great for you!
Our Mission
The mission of the CoE Peer Mentor Program is to successfully facilitate the transition to college life for incoming Michigan Engineers. We aim to provide you with resources for all of the scenarios that you may face in college. We want to help you succeed in classes, make friends, and establish a great foundation for the rest of your college careers. Through this program, we hope that you will find a sense of belonging and community within both the CoE Peer Mentor Program and the College of Engineering as a whole.
What Would I Do As a Mentee?
As a mentee in the program, you will be matched with your mentor over the summer. We match students based on what you want to be matched on, whether that’s major, hometown, hobbies, and more!
After you’re matched with your mentee, you will communicate throughout the summer via phone, email, text, etc. Once you get to campus, you will meet each other in person when you attend the PMP Kickoff in September! Throughout the semester, you will continue to communicate with your mentor and other mentees directly and by attending events that the PMP team puts on each month.
How Do I Join?
Each year we recruit mentors that are rising sophomores or above in February/March for the next academic year.
Please check back then for the 2025-2026 application. Please reach out to [email protected] if you have any questions.
