What do you like about advising?
I love meeting and getting to know new students. In my advising role, I get to help students navigate college, get connected to new experiences and resources, and see them grow, which is very rewarding.
What do you like about working with engineering students?
Engineering students are dedicated, innovative, and hard-working. I enjoy hearing about their professional interests, and working with such a diverse group of students.
What was your major in college, and why?
I majored in Secondary Education, and was a teacher before working in higher education. I love working closely with students; I am passionate about education, and find value in gaining new knowledge and perspectives.
What is your best piece of advice for first year students?
Enjoy the process! College can be scary and overwhelming at times, but is also an amazing experience. Try to get engaged on campus, and be open to new ideas and opportunities.
What is the best kept secret at the University of Michigan?
The Nicholas Arboretum "Arb" is a UM hidden gem. It's such a nice, calm place to visit/walk/run/picnic, away from the campus hustle and bustle.
What do you spend time on outside of your work?
I love spending time with family and friends, trying new restaurants, traveling, and watching reality tv.
